Why We Built This
If you have ever tried to find clear, honest information about CSCS cards, NVQ qualifications, or CITB tests, you will know how frustrating it is. Most of what ranks on Google is either written by training providers trying to sell you a course, or by content farms that have never set foot on a construction site.
We built NVQ Reviews because the UK construction industry deserves better. Workers preparing for their CITB test should not have to wade through pages of filler to find the pass mark. Someone researching the difference between an NVQ Level 6 and a degree should get a straight answer, not a 2,000-word sales pitch.
Everything on this site is written with one question in mind: what would we want to know if we were in your position? That means honest assessments of NVQ providers, realistic salary expectations, genuine exam preparation, and tools that actually work.
What We Do
Free mock tests. Our CSCS mock test, SMSTS mock test, and SSSTS mock test are used by thousands of construction workers preparing for their real exams. Every question includes a detailed explanation referencing the relevant regulation, so you learn as you practise. The tests are timed, randomised from a larger question bank, and completely free.
Honest NVQ guides. Our guides to the NVQ Level 6 and NVQ Level 7 explain exactly what is involved, how long it takes, what it costs, and which providers offer the best value. We do not push one provider over another unless there is a genuine reason to.
CSCS card resources. From our CSCS Card Finder tool to detailed guides on every card colour (green, blue, gold, black), we help you understand which card you need, what qualifications are required, and how to apply.
Jobs board. Our construction jobs board lists live vacancies for NVQ-qualified professionals. Filter by card level, location, and salary to find roles that match your qualifications.

Accuracy over volume
We would rather publish one accurate, well-researched article than ten thin ones. Every fact is checked against official sources like CSCS, CITB, and HSE.
Independence
We are not owned by a training provider. Our recommendations are based on value and quality, not who pays us the most. When we link to a provider, we tell you.
Transparency

Built for workers
Our audience is construction workers, not recruiters or training companies. Every decision we make starts with “does this help the person on site?”
How We Make Money
NVQ Reviews is free to use and always will be. We make money in three ways, and we are upfront about all of them.
Affiliate commissions. When we recommend an NVQ provider and you enrol through our link, we earn a commission. This does not cost you anything extra. We only recommend providers we would use ourselves.
Job listings. Employers and recruiters can post construction management vacancies on our jobs board. Paid listings include featured placement and email promotion to our subscriber base.
Advertising partnerships. We work with a small number of construction industry partners who advertise on our site. Ads are clearly labelled and never disguised as editorial content.
We will never charge construction workers for access to our mock tests, guides, or tools. The people who benefit most from this site should never have to pay for it.
